Water Softeners

Hard water contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium that can build up in pipes, fixtures, and appliances. A water softener helps remove these minerals by replacing them with sodium or potassium, helping protect your home’s plumbing and improve everyday water quality. Modern Heating offers water softeners for rental or purchase and is an authorized installer for Grandbridge.

How Water Softening Works

A water softener uses a mineral tank filled with resin beads to remove

hard-water minerals from your home’s water supply.

Heating Installation

Untreated water enters the mineral tank and flows through thousands of small resin beads.

Mineral Exchange

The resin beads attract calcium and magnesium from the water and release sodium in their place, reducing the minerals responsible for hard-water buildup.

Automatic Regeneration

Over time, the resin beads become saturated with minerals. The system uses salt water from a separate brine tank to clean and recharge the beads, flushing the collected minerals down the drain.

Benefits of Softened Water

Soft water can help protect your home’s plumbing while making everyday cleaning and water use easier.

Protects Pipes and Appliances:

Helps reduce mineral scale that can build up in pipes, water heaters, dishwashers, and washing machines.

Helps Reduce Energy and Repair Costs:

Less scale buildup on heating elements can help equipment operate more efficiently.

Gentler on Skin and Hair:

Helps reduce the mineral residue that can leave skin and hair feeling dry.

Spot-Free Cleaning:

Helps reduce cloudy spots and mineral buildup on glassware, shower doors, and fixtures.

Uses Less Soap and Detergent:

Soft water allows soap to lather more easily, which may reduce the amount needed for cleaning.

Softer, Brighter Laundry:

Helps reduce mineral buildup in fabrics, keeping laundry feeling softer and looking cleaner.
