Find The Right Water Heater
Standard Atmospheric Tank
Uses natural upward airflow to move exhaust through a vertical chimney liner or B-vent as the gas burner heats the stored water.
How It Works
The system uses air from the surrounding room for combustion and relies on natural convection to vent exhaust through the chimney or B-vent. It does not require electricity to operate.
Key Benefits
- Helps reduce ground-level ozone, a known lung irritant.
- Provides whole-home air filtration.
- Activated carbon helps neutralize household odours before they recirculate through your home.
Power-Vented Tank
Uses an electric fan to push exhaust gases outdoors through vent piping.
How It Works
The system draws combustion air from the utility space and uses an electric blower to exhaust gases outside. The vent can also run horizontally through an exterior wall, providing greater installation flexibility.
Key Benefits
- Flexible installation options
- Useful for homes without a suitable vertical chimney
- Allows greater placement flexibility
Sealed Direct-Vent Tank
Uses a dual-pipe system to bring combustion air from outside and exhaust gases back outdoors.
How It Works
A sealed direct-vent tank draws fresh combustion air directly from outside while sending exhaust gases back outdoors. This keeps the combustion process separate from indoor air and uses natural thermal convection rather than a powered blower.
Key Benefits
- Helps reduce the risk of backdrafting
- Keeps combustion separate from indoor air
- Well suited to tight utility spaces and modern, tightly sealed homes
Tankless Water Heater
Heats water as it is needed rather than continuously storing a large volume in a tank.
How It Works
When a hot water tap opens, water flows through high-capacity heat exchangers that heat it on demand. Electronic controls manage ignition, water flow, and system operation.
Key Benefits
- Hot water on demand
- Compact, wall-mounted design
- High energy efficiency
- Long service life, depending on the system and maintenance
